Pho Chi
About This Spot
Stepping into Pho Chi in Gaithersburg feels like discovering a quiet haven where the warmth of a well-loved neighborhood spot blends seamlessly with the comforting aromas of a bustling kitchen. The pace here moves gently, an inviting rhythm that matches the steady hum of casual conversations and the occasional clinking of glasses. It’s the kind of place where evenings stretch into something unhurried, perfect for slowing down with a bowl of something deeply satisfying.
The atmosphere is quietly welcoming, with genuine smiles and familiar greetings that make you feel less like a customer and more like a regular. This sincerity echoes in the service — friendly without fuss, attentive without being overbearing — creating a sense of ease that draws many back time and again. Pho Chi wears its authenticity lightly, offering a space where you can enjoy both familiar comforts and small surprises in every visit.
Food here feels like a warm embrace, with each bowl of pho revealing layers of care in its savory broth and freshly sliced herbs. Whether it’s the rich, fragrant pho with tender flank steak or the more playful, satisfying crunch of a bánh mì with grilled lemongrass pork, the menu invites you to slow down and savor. From hearty rice plates to vibrant appetizers, there’s a sense that every dish has a story — a blend of tradition and subtle adaptations that feel thoughtfully made for the neighborhood it serves.
Beyond the bowls and plates, there’s also a spot for sharing a cold beer or a glass of wine, a gentle reminder that this is a place to settle in, linger over good flavors, and enjoy the human moments that make dining more than just a meal. The late-night visits, especially on those chilly evenings, seem to reveal something special here — a refuge of warmth, familiarity, and comforting tastes that quietly hold you till the world outside feels a little less rushed.

OMG! we stumbled upon this place because they were the only ones open late. We ordered the spring and summer rolls, bun bo hue, and bahn mi. Let's get the negatives out the way. I feel like they do cater to American palate ... The bun bo hue didnt have the normal meats it usually comes with and also the bahn mi is not served with pate inside .. Hubby ordered the bahn mi. The filling wad fine but the bread was HARD as a rock! Definitely not made fresh idk if they toasted it again but man last night eating it was hilarious. I did warn him about straying from our favorite place which is BAHN MI OI. its the best in the DMV! Now he'll learn his lesson ,but he did have a late night craving for it soo there wasnt changing his mind .. now onto the bun bo hue! omg its probably thee best one ive tried soo far! it has such a great lemon grass flavor and nice spice level too! most places in HOCO don't match the lemongrass flavor this was AMAZING .. Ill drive the 35 min here to come back for this ...only wish that it had the pork meat and meatballs but man! this hit the spot for lunch today! Very happy with it .. the spring rolls were fine nothing to write about . the summer rolls were huge! as huge as my face! lol! I just wish again there was pork belly & not just half of a shrimp across. The peanut sauce was watery and I was definitely was unsure about it.,but once I dipped my summer rolls in it it was fine! it was nice and had flavor but I wish they gave you more in the serving cup. All in all I will definitely be back. The prices are amazing .. especially since I live in HOCO where everything is priced sooo much higher. This place was good and id love to try the pho next time, but idk bun bo hue here will be my go to! TRY IT!

I never leave reviews, but this place has earned it. I’ve tried many pho places but always come back to this one. The broths are savory. The service is fast. The lady at the counter is so friendly. Great experience every time I go. My favorite spot for Pho and Bun Bo Hue. So good!!

Came in at 11pm on a cold Monday night looking for a nice warm meal, they delivered that and much more. The beef pho with brisket was amazing as well as the summer rolls. My girlfriend got a shrimp pho, and the shrimp was fully cooked and hot to the touch- she said it was very yummy! She also got the thai tea, which she said was classic and very good. I got the mango smoothie which is very creamy and delicious, but lighter on the mango flavor, which wasn’t a problem for me. The atmosphere is also very nice, it’s a cozy, well-decorated little space with old Anthony Bourdain episodes playing on the TV.

The pho was great, freshly made for how late it was when i visited. The customer service was even better. Owner or manager there was helpful and friendly. Main reason I’ll be back again soon!

Pho Chi is hands down one of the best Vietnamese spots I’ve been to. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Their pho broth is rich, perfectly seasoned, and tastes like it’s been simmered for hours — exactly how real pho should be. The portions are generous, the meat is tender, and the noodles are always cooked just right. Everything comes out hot and beautifully presented. You can really tell they care about quality and consistency. If you’re looking for authentic, delicious Vietnamese food, Pho Chi is a must-try. I highly recommend it and will definitely be coming back!

First time grabbing pho at a restaurant at 10:30 p.m., and it did not disappoint. The broth was incredibly flavorful, the staff were attentive and welcoming, and the whole place had a surprisingly cozy late-night atmosphere. If you’re craving pho after hours, this spot absolutely hits the mark. Late-night pho craving: satisfied.

Despite them being closed for a month me and my bf love this place and have been waiting for the arrival! Best pho place I’ve been to and I’ve been to a lot in the Gaithersburg/rockville/frederick area. We are going there soon and preemptively I’m leaving a review to bring some of yall to the realization that they were closed due to personal reasons lately! But they are now open! If you’re willing to give them a chance they are so so worth the visit!! Will post photos after and will still have the same opinion because I’m a glazer for this place!!
